[Beta] How to use the Research Assistant - Do's & Don'ts

Overview

The Deal Research Assistant, powered by PatSnap, is an AI-powered research tool integrated into Deal. It is currently in beta, meaning it is an early-stage, limited-feature version made available free of charge to selected customers for a three-month trial.

Required user role: Manager

Key information for the trial users

  • The assistant is accessible when viewing an opportunity within Deal.
  • Each client has a shared quota of 10,000 questions, available across all users with a Manager license.
  • The 10,000-question limit is valid for three months from the start of the trial.
  • This is not a chatbot and does not support follow-up questions or context-based replies.
  • PatSnap does not access or scan any user data from the Inpart Deal platform.

How to use the Research Assistant

Open an opportunity and click the test tube button at the bottom right of the page.

A panel will open, showing some examples of questions that you could ask the assistant. Type your question in the text field at the bottom and press Enter.

The assistant's answer will be displayed below your question, with numbered clickable sources for reference.

If the answer if valuable to you, you can copy the information in the relevant opportunity fields. For that, click the little copy icon below the answer.

Do’s

To get the most value from the Deal Research Assistant:

  • Use it for research-focused queries.
It is especially effective for questions such as:
    • “Describe the mechanism of action of siRNA drugs.”
    • “What are the clinical outcomes of Belantamab mafodotin?”
    • “Which linkers are used in ADC drugs?”
    • “For what indications are siRNA drugs currently under investigation?”
  • Be specific and complete in your questions.
Always include the full name of the drug, compound, or technology you’re asking about.
Example: “What is the development stage of the drug Belantamab mafodotin?”
  • Ask standalone questions.
The assistant cannot understand references to previous questions.
Example: Instead of “What is its mechanism of action?” ask “What is the mechanism of action of Belantamab mafodotin?”

Don’ts

Avoid the following when using the Deal Research Assistant:

  • Don’t ask follow-up or vague questions.
The assistant does not track or remember what was asked before.
Avoid: “Tell me more about it.”
Use instead: “Tell me more about the clinical trials for Belantamab mafodotin.”
  • Don’t use casual or conversational language
The assistant is designed for targeted research queries.
Avoid: “Can you tell me about this drug?”
Use instead: “What is the type of therapy for Belantamab mafodotin?”
