Add and manage multiple assets in opportunities
Add additional assets to existing opportunities.
Overview
Plan availibility: Essential/Advanced
Required user role: Manager/Contributor with access to the opportunity (see detailed rights).
Multiple assets enable you to evaluate various assets within a single opportunity for the following use cases:
- Platform-based deals: Evaluate multiple clinical assets linked by the same platform or technology together.
- Indication-based bundles: Evaluate multiple assets targeting the same indication within one licensing discussion.
- Single asset with backup molecule: Manage a lead asset and its backup variant under the same opportunity for joint prioritization.
- M&A: Evaluate a company and its portfolio of assets.
Understand multiple asset logic
Main asset vs other assets
Each opportunity has one main asset and can have secondary assets to evaluate side by side.
The main asset is always displayed first and flagged with a Main asset chip.
Secondary assets can be promoted to be the main asset.
The partner company for the main asset is the same as the one for the opportunity. Secondary assets can be attached to different companies.
In the opportunity hub, the asset fields available in the filters are those of the main asset.
Asset statuses
Each asset has its own status, in addition to the opportunity status.
Asset statuses share the same values as those of the opportunity defined in the Administration page: Active, On-hold, Declined, Closed.
A newly added asset is always first set as Active.
-
Asset statuses are automatically updated when the opportunity status changes, following these rules:
-
When an opportunity is set to active:
All asset statuses remained unchanged.
-
When an opportunity is put on hold:
Active assets are put on hold with the same parameters as the opportunity.
On-hold, Decline, Closed asset statuses remain unchanged.
-
When an opportunity is declined:
Active and on-hold assets are set to Declined with the same decline reason as the opportunity.
Decline and Closed asset statuses remain unchanged.
-
When an opportunity is closed:
Active and on-hold assets are set to Closed.
Decline and Closed asset statuses remain unchanged.
-
Add assets to existing opportunities
Required user role: Manager with access to the opportunity.
Open the opportunity, go to the Details tab, and click the Add asset button. A pop-up will open.
Important note: If some companies or assets are highlighted in yellow during the company and asset selection, this indicates that they are already evaluated within another opportunity of the same initiative. This helps you avoid creating duplicates.
Select the asset type and click Next. The type of the newly added asset can differ from the type of the main existing asset.
Enter the name of the partner company.
If you selected the pharma asset type, you can select existing companies from your own data, or from the Cortellis database (if you have a Cortellis license and advanced API).
For other asset types, you can only select existing companies from your own data.
You can also create a new company from scratch by clicking Select to create.
Then, click Next.
Finally, enter a name for the asset. Same as for the company:
If you selected the pharma asset type, you can select existing assets from your own data, or from the Cortellis database (if you have a Cortellis subscription).
For other asset types, you can only select existing assets from your own data.
You can also create a new asset from scratch, by clicking Select to create.
Click Confirm.
You will see the newly added asset displayed after the main asset (flagged with a Main asset chip).
Edit the asset name
Important: The name of an Organization asset cannot be edited, as changing its name would essentially create a new asset rather than update the existing one.
In the opportunity or company page, click the more option button in the asset header and select Rename.
A pop-up will open. Edit the asset name and click Save.
Reassign the asset company
Important: The company of an Organization asset cannot be edited, as changing it would essentially create a new asset rather than update the existing one.
In the opportunity or company page, click the more option button in the asset header and select Change company.
A pop-up will open. Select a new company and click Confirm.
When you change the opportunity's company, you are prompted to apply the same change to all linked assets. You can choose to update all assets at once or keep their existing companies unchanged.
Duplicate an asset
Required user role: Manager with access to the opportunity.
The duplicated asset will be pre-filled with all the data from the original asset profile, including its linkage to the main asset (i.e., the original asset and the duplicate both remain linked to the same asset record in the system).
The duplicated asset is added immediately below the original one in the opportunity view.
Users can edit the duplicated asset profile if needed, e.g., to adjust specific fields like asset name, region, phase, etc.
Duplication will duplicate the asset and give it an Active status
View the external database information
Required user role: Manager with access to the opportunity.
You can access asset profile information from Inpart Data and Evaluate Pharma from the asset section on the opportunity page.
Navigate to the Details page of the opportunity. If the asset has some linked profile information from these databases, a link is displayed next to the icon.
Click the database icon, and a side panel will open, displaying the information. Click the relevant profile to access the information.
Promote an asset to main asset
Required user role: Manager with access to the opportunity.
Navigate to the Details page of the opportunity. Click the more option button on one of the assets and select Main asset. The asset will automatically be placed at the top of the asset list.
Note: If the opportunity is named after the main asset's name, this name remains when you promote another asset to be the main asset, unless you rename the opportunity to fit the name of the new main asset.
Remove or reassign an asset
Required user role: Manager with access to the opportunity.
Important note:
- You cannot remove or reassign the main asset of an opportunity to another opportunity.
- Removing an asset from the opportunity page also removes it permanently from the related company page.
Navigate to the Details page of the opportunity. Click the more option button and select Unlink.
A pop-up will open.
- Remove the asset
To permanently remove the asset, click Remove asset.
- Reassign the asset to another opportunity
To reassign the asset to another opportunity, toggle the Link to an opportunity button. The following pop-up will open. You can either choose to duplicate the current opportunity and make the selected asset the main asset of the new opportunity or link the selected asset to another existing opportunity.
