Set a default opportunity type for all opportunities created in an initiative
Overview
An initiative always has one preselected asset type (pharma asset, technology, consumer health asset, or organization), whereas opportunities under this initiative can be related to different opportunity types (e.g., in-licensing, investment, fundraising).
When an initiative covers opportunities related to a unique opportunity type, you can set up a default opportunity type for the whole initiative so that the opportunity type is automatically selected every time a user creates a new opportunity.
Plan availability: Essential/Advanced
Required user role: Manager
Set the default opportunity in the initiative
The opportunity types available for selection at the initiative level are related to the asset type defined on the Administration page when the opportunity type was created.
E.g. if the initiative is based on a Pharma asset type, then you will be able to select as default opportunity types only opportunity types where the Pharma asset was selected on the Administration page (see screenshot below).
See more about opportunity type.
For new initiatives
In step 2/2 of the initiative creation process, select the opportunity type in the Default opportunity type drop-down list.
For existing initiatives
Click the more options button at the top right of the initiative page and select Edit.
A pop-up will open. Select the opportunity type in the Default opportunity type drop-down list.
Opportunity creation scenarios
- If a default opportunity type is set: The default opportunity type automatically applies when creating an opportunity, skipping the opportunity type selection step.
- If no default opportunity type is set and multiple opportunity types apply: You need to choose the opportunity type when creating an opportunity.
- If there is only one valid opportunity type set for the initiative asset type in the Administration page: This opportunity type automatically applies when creating an opportunity, skipping the opportunity type selection step.
