Data & Privacy

  • Customer data, prompts, and AI outputs are not used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model.
  • Your searches and the AI's responses are private to you; no other user in your tenant, including admins, can view your search history or the answers you received.
  • If the AI service becomes temporarily unavailable, the feature will display a clear error message rather than failing silently. This has no impact on the rest of Deal, which continues to work as normal.

What you can ask

The system only returns records you have permission to access in Deal.

The search interface is designed to handle the kinds of questions that arise naturally in day-to-day partnering work. Supported query types include:

  • Company and asset overviews
E.g., "What do we know about Company X?" or "What is the latest status of Asset Y?"
Returns a narrative covering linked opportunities, meetings, agreements, contacts, and third-party profiles.
  • Filtered lists with context
E.g., "Which companies in Japan have we already met to discuss oncology?"
Returns a summary of matching companies and a navigable list of records.
  • Full-text keyword search
E.g., "Show me everything we know about target X."
Searches across Deal records and inside attached PDFs, slide decks, and Word documents.
  • Aggregation and counting
E.g., "How many due diligences did we complete in 2024?"
Returns a count and a list of matching opportunities, each linking to the record in Deal.
  • Obligation and contract tracing
E.g., "Do we owe anything to Company X under any of our agreements?"
Traces mentions across contracts, amendments, and related entities.
  • Alliance briefings
E.g., "Tell me everything I need to know about Alliance A as its new alliance manager."
Returns a structured briefing covering history, milestones, obligations, governance meetings, and recent notes.

How to use the search

Type your question in plain language, no special syntax required.

Wait for the system to process your query. It retrieves relevant records across all entity types, searches inside attached documents, and applies your access permissions before generating a response.

Review the synthesised answer. Where your query matches a set of records, a navigable list appears alongside the narrative summary. Click any clist item to open the corresponding record directly in Deal.

Ask a follow-up question if needed. The system retains the context of your session and refines or extends the previous answer.

Manage your chats

To delete an answer, click the more option icon at the end of the answer and select Delete, or click the more option and select Delete, directly from the chat on the homepage. This chat will disappear from your search history on the homepage.

Tips for better results

  • Be specific. Questions that include a company name, asset, alliance, or time period return more targeted answers.
  • Use follow-up questions. If the first answer is too broad, refine it. For example: "Which of those had a CDA signed?" or "Focus only on the oncology ones."
  • Check the citations. Every claim in the answer links to a source record. Click through to verify and explore further.

Current limitations

The following are not available in the current release:

  • Write-back actions: The search interface is read-only. Creating, editing, or deleting records must be done through the standard Deal workflows.
  • Image content inside documents: The system does not interpret images embedded in attached documents.
  • Voice input: Text-based queries only.
  • Third-party data: The system searches your Deal records only. It does not retrieve data from Evaluate Pharma, Cortellis, or Pharmaprojects.
